Dear OSUK members (present, past & future) all respected members of our Odia family.

During our last AGM, we restructured OSUK with a broader group of office bearers and revised the constitution that addressed various codes of conduct issues. The AGM unanimously passed this. We also proudly elected over 50% of our office bearers from the second and third generations of Odias, demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to our organisation’s future.

The wheels of the new committee are in full motion is working diligently, developing a new website and taking on other essential initiatives for betterment of OSUK to accommodate our new aspirations whilst preserving the ethos of the past values.

In principle, OSUK has been self-reliant and self sufficient in management of finances, which have served responsibly to support the conduct of the cultural activities including support of artists from India.

Recently you must have seen news reports that a splinter group was created as OSUK CIC with a vision which is not in the true Odia diaspora spirit of philanthropy since their approach seems to be the opposite by seeking funds from our parent state Odisha to manage the conduct of Odia cultural activities. If true, we firmly believe that this is against the spirit of OSUK as it reduces the organisational structure into a business company albeit cleverly under the garb of charity.

OSUK has always functioned as a social and cultural entity, never considering itself a CIC. As OSUK we stand independent and will support any community or cultural activities that belongs to Odisha. We recognise the importance of charitable status and are committed to achieving this, but in a manner that respects our legacy

We have no objection to the formation of new community groups or companies. In fact, we support such initiatives and are willing to assist them in gaining wider participation through networking. However, the unauthorised use of our logo and name has deeply hurt the sentiments of our founders, their descendants and all of us who are committed to continuing our legacy.

Please be reassured that we will continue to thrive and prosper and keep working for the Odia community

Thank you for your attention and support.
Sincerely, Biswajit Pradhan OSUK president elected 2024-2027
On behalf of OSUK executive committee.
